Last week was in the seventies and sunny. So far this week, we have almost a foot of snow here in the foothills of the Rockies. That’s how it is in Colorado. The weather goes right from summer to winter overnight. Normally I would be scrambling to winterize everything that might freeze, but since it is already November, I’ve gotten it done before the storm. I also got a chance to get the tour cars put away for the long winter. It will be several months before the weather improves enough to tour in our area. Sure, we’ll have nice days and I’ll get the itch to get one out and take a short trip to the local Dairy Queen for Sunday afternoon ice cream or some other short jaunt. The winter down time is also a good time to do any work on the cars that you’ve been putting off while the weather was good for touring. I have a car I recently purchased that needs quite a bit of love to be ready to tour. The last time it was driven was in 2008. It is now up in the air on jack stands ready for replacement of all suspension parts. I sure wish I had a lift.
This is also a good time to help out friends with projects they may have been putting off. I have several from the VMCCA I get together with to help or just have coffee or afternoon beers. They are always willing to help me out also. We call it Beers and Gears. We also have several members in our area who get together at everyone’s favorite Mexican restaurant for lunch once a month. I highly recommend reaching out to members that you see on club tours during the touring season and ask if any would like to keep in touch in the same manner. You won’t be disappointed.
