I’m excited to serve as your VMCCA Activities Vice President. Because of my passion for travel, I can relate to the energy behind planning trips. The opportunities we’ve had, as a club, to visit places across our United States gives us a glimpse of so many amazing places that our members and tour planners wanted to share — the back roads, hidden gems, and life off the beaten path.
In planning for this position, I researched where our tours have taken us over the past 80 years. I discovered there are 10 states that we have not yet explored: Rhode Island, West Virginia, Oregon, North Dakota, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Hawaii, Alaska, and Delaware (the 2026 Revival AAA Glidden Tour® will take us to Delaware). I hope we can include these states in the near future. Do you have any insight about how we could put a tour in any of these states?
A few facts:
My goal is to balance tour opportunities across the U.S. during a tour season, making it more convenient for those who have time and distance limitations. I would like to encourage tour planning by simplifying the tour planning instructions to be more straightforward and easy to navigate.
I hope you will join me in the enthusiasm around tour planning, visionary “Where do we go next?” thinking, and touring in general. Please feel free to contact me about tour ideas, suggestions, or “I think I want to plan a tour” inquiries. I can be contacted at: maxfield.carol@yahoo.com
